Preface
Music full of the joy of life! The Spanish folk song “La Cucaracha” (The cockroach), which first became popular as a Mexican revolutionary song in the early 20th century, is still well known and loved today thanks to numerous interpretations. “Un poquito cantas” (A bit of song) comes from South America and is now relatively well known in Europe.
The two arrangements for recorder quartet or recorder orchestra pick up on the traditional melodies but also have their own style – a combination of old and new. The arrangements are full of drive and variation and marked by contrasts and surprise elements with twists and turns that sound neither contrived nor intellectual. This is music that moves the body.
