Preface

Many Navajo prayers and texts deal with Hózhó, which can be translated as beauty, order, harmony. In Beauty means living in harmony with nature and in accordance with the cosmic plan.
I composed In Beauty for recorder orchestra in 2024. A low drum can be played as an optional accompaniment.

May there be beauty before me
May there be beauty behind me
May there be beauty around me
May there be beauty beneath me
May there be beauty above me
May all things be in beauty
(from a blessing for a new Navajo house)

I would like to add: may there be beauty in music!
I wish you much joy in music making.
